Sao Paulo, Stages 1A, 1B and Stage 2

MagicFest Sao Paulo will hold a double Day 1 Grand Prix event on Friday and Saturday (called Stage 1A and Stage 1B), with the Day 2 (only for qualified players) on Sunday (called Stage 2).


Stage 1A will start on Friday, November the 15th at 9AM and will only have online registration (no onsite registration - so please register with time!)

-Online Registration for Stage 1A can be found here
-We will play 8 rounds of Swiss, at the end of which players with 18 points or more, will qualify for Stage 2.

-If your final record after 8 rounds is 21 points, you will start Stage 2 with 3 points
-If your final record after 8 rounds is 24 points, you will start Stage 2 with 6 points

-Planeswalker points will be taken into account for bye calculation (last two seasons); 1300pwp get 1 bye, 2250 get 2 byes. The cut is made on Wednesday (any point earned on Wednesday or after will not change your number of byes).

Stage 1B will start on Saturday, November the 16th at 9AM

-Online Registration for Stage 1B can be found here
-We will play 8 rounds of Swiss, at the end of which players with 18 points or more, will qualify for Day 2.

-If your final record after 8 rounds is 21 points, you will start Stage 2 with 3 points
-If your final record after 8 rounds is 24 points, you will start Stage 2 with 6 points

-There will be Last Chance Trials on Friday that will grant 2 byes for players that go 4-0


Stage‚Äč 2 will start on Sunday at 9AM and consist  in 7 Swiss Rounds, only for qualified players from Stage 1A and Stage 1B. The Top 8 is single elimination playoffs. Players with 24 point in Stage 1 will start with 6 match points. Players with 21 points in Stage 1 will start with 3 match points.

-There won't be any bye calculation.

-Players must use the exact same deck as used in Stage 1

-Tiebreakers will be reset for the Stage 2

Q: Can I register for both Stage 1A and Stage 1B?
A: Yes

Q: I played in Stage 1A and made 15 points with deck A, I also played in Stage 1B and made 18 points with deck B. Can I choose which deck I play for Stage 2?
A: No. You can only play Stage 2 with your deck from Stage 1B, deck B.

Q: I played in Stage 1A and made 18 points with deck A, I also played in Stage 1B and made 18 points with deck B. Can I choose which deck I play for Stage 2?
A: Yes. If your record is the same for both Stages, you can choose which deck to play for Stage 2 between deck A and deck B

Q: I played in Stage 1A and made 18 points with deck A, I also played in Stage 1B and made 21 points with deck B. Can I choose which deck I play for Stage 2?
A: No. You will have use your best performance deck (in this case, deck B that you played during Stage 1B)

Q: Do we get Prize Tix or other prizes for participation?
A: No. Only prizes listed above for the Top 64 players after final standings.
